Dear Birth
Parents,
Thank you for
taking the time to read our letter.
Our names are Kris
and Harold. We are a happy and active couple from a small town outside
of Chicago, Illinois. We are excited to expand our family through
adoption. If you ever want more information, we will be happy to
provide it. We can only imagine how difficult this must be for you, so
we thank you for considering us. We have so much respect for you and
will do everything to honor you and respect your wishes.
About Our
Family: Harold and Kris
first met as volunteers for the haunted house sponsored by the local
fire department. We each were firemen but for different departments.
We both are now on the same fire department and volunteer at church.
Kris co-teaches Sunday school and Harold is active in the Men’s group.
Harold was an Eagle Scout while Kris was active in 4-H. Kris’ parents
and sister live 7 blocks from their house. Kris’ sister cares for our
seven year old daughter before & after school. Harold’s parents and
siblings live only 15 minutes away. We are fortunate to be able to see
our families about 2-3 times a week and often get together for BBQs. We
chose to live in our small town of 950 people because Kris grew up here
and Harold grew up near here. We feel with the smaller school district,
it provides the teachers with more one on one time with the children.
It also provides a safer atmosphere for our family. We have a healthy
and active seven-year-old daughter, Hannah, who longs to be a big
sister. She enjoys being out doors playing baseball, riding her bike
and swimming. She also is a big fan of bowling and Irish dancing. She
looks forward to sharing this with a new sibling.
Work:
We are both extremely fortunate to work for companies who value family
and offers many benefits relating to family leave. Kris works for a
large company that manufactures construction and mining equipment. Kris
has been dedicated to the company for 12 years in the Human Resources
department and looks forward to taking some time off to spend with a new
child. Kris will have the ability to work part time from home so that
she can spend as much time with the baby as possible. Harold is a
diesel mechanic at a local car dealership for the last 6 years and is
also able to take time of when necessary.
Home:
We live in a 10-year-old
spacious home on a cul-de-sac that happens to be the home to many
children. Our house has a playroom for the children to enjoy. Our town
only has 950 people in it and provides a safe environment for our
family. We have a large fenced in back yard with a fenced in swimming
pool. Our home is only a 5-minute walk from two different parks.
Hobbies:
Our family enjoys being outside during the summer riding bikes,
swimming, fishing and camping. During the winter our favorite hobby is
bowling and playing board games. We love to have family & friends over
for BBQs. In the summer, we enjoy camping and belong to a club where we
spend time fishing and swimming. We are usually camping two weekends a
month and a couple of weeks out of the summer. This gives us the
opportunity to enjoy the outdoors together.
Pets:
We have 2 gentle and child friendly dogs and one cat. We rescued our
dogs from the local animal shelter. Harley is a black lab – hound mix
that loves children and is very lazy. Charlie Brown is an Australian
shepherd, who loves to play fetch and acts as a baby sitter to the
children who come to our house. Twizzler, our cat, was found when he
was only 3 weeks old and weighed only 11 ounces. Our family nursed him
into a 5-year-old 12-pound cuddly ball of fur.
In closing, we can
hardly wait to open our home and hearts to a child to become a member of
our family. If you chose our family, we will be eternally grateful and
will make sure that the child understands how lucky they are to have
birth parents that love them so much. We will make you proud that you
chose our family. We want the child to know the courage it took you to
make such a difficult and important decision. We are ready for this
life-long commitment to become a reality and we look forward to sharing
the growth of your child with you through pictures & letters. Please
remember if you chose our family or not, our thoughts and prayers are
with you during this difficult time. God has a plan for all of us and
we hope that his plan is for our paths to cross, meet and come together
for this child.
Again, thank you
for reading our letter.
