My name is Megan Crenshaw and I am delighted and honored be a part of Journeys of the Heart. I have been touched by the experience of adoption and would like to offer my help and support as you are learning about the options available to you and your child.

At a young age I discovered my passion for helping people and throughout my life have had the opportunity to fulfill that passion by being involved with many wonderful organizations and volunteer programs. I have had the privilege of working with United Way, Ray of Hope, Cocoon school, YMCA and Habitat for Humanity. Prior to attending college I worked for AmeriCorps as the coordinator for the “Young Artists Project” and also lead various volunteer projects through Snohomish County. I attended the University of Washington in Seattle, where I received my BA in Sociology. During college I tutored and mentored in the Seattle Public School District and also completed an internship with the Washington State ACLU.  I look forward to continuing to help people through my work, as part of the Journeys of the Heart team.

megan crenshawI can only imagine the range of emotions you are feeling as you think about your life and all of the choices that are available to you. Making an adoption plan for your child is not an easy decision but it is a loving and honorable one.  I would like to offer you my support and guidance as you discover the adoption process. I can help you understand your choices and I will be able to answer all of your questions. I will be here to walk you through your decision and help you as new concerns arise. During this time in your life it is so important that you feel supported and safe when it comes to making an adoption plan for your child. I am here to guide you through each step and help you to know what is coming next.

I would love to meet with you to answer all of your questions and discuss your options. You can call me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-876-0575. You can also reach me by email at Megan@JourneysoftheHeart.net.

Below I have made a list of the ways Journeys of the Heart will be able to assist you through this process.

Reliable support- A trustworthy and dependable Adoption Coordinator will work with you throughout your pregnancy. She will be available to provide neutral support and assist you at your comfort level, making sure that your needs are met. She will take this journey together with you and will be an advocate for you, becoming like a friend and confidant throughout the process.

Type of adoption- You will be provided all the information on the different types of adoptions available. You may have become aware of the terms “open” and “closed” adoption. We will help you to fully understand those terms and what they mean to you and your child. There are many possibilities when it comes to adoption, with some being very open including visits with your child as well as pictures and letters, to being closed with no contact. You will be able to decide what works for you and we will be able to help you according to what fits your situation and desires.

Choosing a family- A selection of families will be available for you to choose from. You will be in control of making the choices for your baby when selecting an adoptive family. The families have gone through an extensive screening process, including background, criminal and personal information checks, as well as meeting financial, emotional and physical requirements. You will be able to review information about the adoptive families including pictures and information about their lives as well as have a personal meeting with them if you would like.

Counseling-If you decide that you would like counseling it is available at no cost to you before and after the birth of your child. An adoption coordinator can work with you to find someone that is located near you and that you are comfortable with.

Financial needs- If you have financial needs you will be provided with assistance for living and medical expenses relating to your pregnancy.

I am available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide you with support and assistance . Please feel free to contact me anytime at . You can also reach me by email at megan@journeysoftheheart.net
