A Letter From the Hearts of…Adam & Darcie

Dear Expectant Parents,

We are Adam and Darcie and want to thank you for taking the time to read our story.  We admire you for your strength and courage in considering adoption.  We cannot imagine the emotions that you are feeling, and we respect you for your loving choice.  We eagerly wait to share our love with a child and we are thankful that you have considered us.

The Two of Us

We met in high school in Oklahoma and have been together a total of 13 years.  We dated through college and married in the summer of 2001.  We always dreamed of having a family.  We decided after our first niece was born in 2003 that we were ready to start our own family.  After several years of trying to conceive and our difficult path of fertility treatments, we realized that God has a different plan for us.  Through all of this our marriage and communication have strengthened, and our reliance on each other has grown; all of which will make us better parents.

We enjoy each other’s company and base our marriage on love, trust, mutual respect, and a commitment to family.  We support one another in everything we do.  We want to raise a confident, happy child who knows that they are supported and loved deeply.

We were both raised in Christian households by very loving parents and it is important for us to raise our children in a similar atmosphere.  We believe faith gives a strong base on which morals and values are developed.

My Wife, Darcie

I feel extremely blessed that Darcie and I get to spend our lives together.  Darcie is incredibly talented at everything she does, and I can't wait to expand on our life experiences together with a child.

Darcie has a wonderful family to share our experiences with.  She has two sisters, one older and one younger, and an extended family that is a joy to spend time with.  Darcie's older sister and our brother-in-law provide great guidance for us as parents of our two nieces.  Darcie loves to spend time with her mom, aunt, two sisters and cousin shopping around town when they are together.  It's also a joy for me when we visit each other, as Darcie's dad and our brother-in-law make great companions on the golf course.

Darcie's personality and characteristics definitely shine through in her line of work.  Darcie's has an interior design education and excels as part of the management team in her company.  She leads with superior people and organizational skills, and her colleagues and peers enjoy working together with her.  She has such a strong creative drive, and her designs, opinions and decisions are highly revered not only at work but also in our home.

Darcie brings an equal creative energy into our home, and it's exciting to experience a love for creative and artistic things together.  Darcie always has great new ideas for food recipes that we make together from time to time.  We also enjoy watching great movies together and creating new things for our home.  Darcie has an inherent passion for crafts that she shares with her mom, and her creations make for a very comfortable and exciting place to call home.

Everyone that even remotely knows Darcie understands how excited she is to become a mom.  She has such loving, caring and nurturing qualities; it will be so exciting as we bring a child into our lives!

My Husband, Adam

Adam is my best friend and I am so lucky to have such an amazing person to spend my life with.  He is the oldest of three boys and comes from a very loving family.  It shows through in the things he does and the kind of man he is.  I am overwhelmed with his talents and have always admired that he knew at an early age what he wanted to do as a career.  He is an architect and is part of the leadership team for his firm.  He is very passionate about his job and still enjoys the path he chose.

Adam is well rounded in hobbies and what he chooses to do in his free time.  He loves to play golf with his friends!  They get together often and take advantage of the warm weather of golf season.  Just put a club in his hand and grass under his feet!  He also really enjoys painting.  Most of the artwork in our home is what he has painted.  In addition to golf and painting, he loves to play his guitar.  He grew up with his father playing and singing and it was something he always thought he would do with his children too.

Adam will be the kind of father who leads by example and will encourage a child to pursue his or her dreams, just as he was led.  I enjoy watching him play with our nieces and I can see in his eyes his desire to be a dad.  I look forward to see him love, laugh and teach a child through his loving personality.

Our Cats

Miles and Oliver are the furry members of our family.  They enjoy cuddling with us and it’s always a joy to come home to see them eager to spend time with us!  They love people of all ages, and both have their very own, unique personalities.

Our Home

We live in Illinois in a comfortable two-bedroom townhome with a loft space.  Many of our neighbors have small children and you can always find people outdoors spending time together.  There are great trails to take walks, ride bikes and also many parks and playgrounds.

Our Family and Friends

We are both very blessed with loving and supportive families.  We remain close, make several trips a year to see each other and talk almost daily.  Our parents and family are great role models for us and will be very involved with our children.  An addition to our family would make the third grandchild in Darcie’s immediate family and the first in Adam’s.  Both immediate and extended families are excited and eager to meet a new addition to the family.  Darcie’s cousin, Michael, was adopted when he was four days old and is now 17 years old.  He was a miracle for our family and it has been very important to all of us that he knows his adoption story.

We have wonderful friends in our lives that we enjoy spending time with.  We take weekend trips together and barbecue often in our backyards.  Two of the couples have young children and we enjoy spending time and playing with them.

Our Promise

We will continue to share our adoption story throughout our lives and how we became a family.  We look forward to remaining in contact with you by sharing photos and letters, if you so desire.  We are eagerly waiting to share our life and love with a child through adoption.  Thank you for taking the time to read our letter, we know this is a life changing decision for you.  We want to assure you that we will provide a caring, safe, supportive and nurturing home and we welcome the opportunity to meet you and discuss your hopes for your baby’s future.  If you would like to learn more about us or speak with us, please contact Journeys of the Heart.
